I Can't Believe We Live Here!

Some people, when they heard we were moving to Grand Junction, Colorado, would say things like, "Oh, I'm sorry," or "Why not somewhere prettier in Colorado?" To that I reply, beauty is in the eye of the freakin' beholder, suckers!

Grand Junction and its surrounding areas have a lot to offer and we're continually commenting to each other about how much we love this place. We're so happy we moved here. Just this Saturday, we drove up to the Grand Mesa (a large flat-top mountain visible from the back window of our house) and fished on beautiful Island Lake, one of about a hundred lakes to choose from in our area. The drive from our front door to the lake was only about an hour.

We rented a canoe, which afforded me my first experience of fishing out on the water and, may I say, spoiled me because I had a full-time oar man to get me around. Thanks, Kevypoo! I also had a successful 4 hours of fishing, catching 8 rainbow trout and 1 cutthroat. I am loving this fly fishing stuff! It's not a hobby I ever would have picked up on my own, but since I married a fly fisherman, it has become pretty easy to fall in love with the sport.

Here's one of the rainbows we caught. They were all about the same size, around a foot long and weighing around a pound. We had a good time singing our jig song, (credit to Strong Bad from Homestar Runner) "Come on and bite on my fly, Fishy! Come on and bite on my fly, Fish Fish!"

"Kevin Michael row the boat ashore, hallelujah!" We wrapped up the fishing just as the sun was getting low in the sky and...

Took some awesome pictures of the changing fall colors on our drive home. Hello?!!?! I can't believe we LIVE here! We are so happy.

It is beautiful. One of Brian's great desires is to learn how to fly fish! Maybe someday we will get to come visit and we can all go out! My uncle runs a fishing guide buisness in Corpus and we are hoping to get to go during Thanksgiving, but it is definitely not beautiful there!!

We had a fantastic time, although I did wish the canoe seats had back rests. Jamie outfished me 9 to 6, and I love fishing with my beautiful wife. For all of you critical of Junction, eat it! This place is awesome. We're just wondering why we haven't had more visitors.....

Way to go Jamie, OUT fishing one of the best! You look great fly fishing with your own handsome oar man.
I have always enjoyed the peace of being out on a quiet lake.
The colors of the lake and the changing colors of the leaves are so beautiful. We are looking forward to our visit.:)
It is definitely the perfect place and the perfect home for you both.

Waaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyy cool! It looks awesome and I'm so glad you're doing all that fishing and being out in nature. It's the best. Well, I don't know about the fly fishing. I'll have to take your word on that. But I'm pretty sure the nature thing is cool.

I'm not, however, familiar with this StrongBad from HomeRunnerStar-bucks or whatever. Could you hum a few bars?

Yet another reason why we're meant to be sisters...two words. Martha Stewart. For a woman who's served time, she's pretty crafty. Good job, the flowers and vase look great. And the lake is beautiful. Gotta love the West!

Is that house next door still for sale? Beaufiful pics! I saw a fisherman today on my way to Anna's house and I thought to myself, "I think I could possibly take up fishing." Sometimes you just want to be alone, right?

Two words for you Neesh: College freshmen. Most silly internet things are discovered during freshman year of college because you stay up really late doing stupid things and laughing your head off, and your classes aren't too demanding yet. Homestar and friends provided many hours of entertainment for me over the years.

And yes, mom, the house is still for sale. Come on and buy the house, Mom! Come on and buy the house, Mom! Mom!

Pretty, pretty. I like fishing, just haven't been in a long, LONG time. We really do need to come visit - although we're such a wild bunch, I think you'd be wishing we hadn't. We're glad we get to see you in few days!

BTW, cute belly pics down below. I think you should keep those coming!
