There are few things in this world I find more beautiful than a pregnant belly. I was recently inspired by a prenatal photography ad, and wanted to capture this special time of my life in an artistic way. So, in the spirit of saving money, I set up a makeshift studio in my house and became my own photographer with the help of a handy thing called the 10-second self timer on my camera. These are my favorites after cropping and editing...
A few weeks ago, my linea nigra appeared. Linea nigra is Latin for "black line" and refers to the pigmented vertical line that runs down a pregnant woman's belly, intersecting the belly button. Mine is not very noticeable, but if you look very closely in the photo below, you can see it -- moreso beneath my belly button than above it. I love it.

I played with the tint on this last one and warmed it up a lot. I like the effect. It's my pregnancy glow. Pregnancy really has been joyful for me. I have helped so many other women through this stage of their lives, and now that it's my turn, I'm not taking any of it for granted.

I love them! I am very impressed that you took them on your own with your timer. And I definitely agree with the beautiful pregnancy belly thing. It's so fun to see your cute belly! You look great.
I'm very excited for his birthday too.
You've given me some ideas now for my own blog. (just kidding)
These are beautiful! I was wanting to do some of these this time around, as I didn't with my first. Thanks for the reminder- I'm due in 4 days... maybe I should get on that ;)
Well, no fair that your belly is so cute... you DO NOT want to see my belly... it looks like a tiger came and scratched it in some spiral pattern (yes, stretch marks). I'm totally jealous of your baby bell AND your ability to capture it so beautifully on camera on your own!! I can't wait for Michael to get here either!! Love you both :0)
you have some awesome veins! beautiful pictures too.
I totally agree with the Foys 100%. Hope everything continues on really well for you!
These pictures are so awesome! You are one talented self-photographer.
so beautiful! so beautiful. seriously, so beautiful.
just one question. are you covering up any stretch marks with those hands? no, don't tell me.
Pregnancy is just beautiful - great pictures!
No stretch marks in sight, and your belly button looks freakishly normal - you must have good genes!
Oh don't worry, people, I'm not immune to stretch marks. They just haven't shown up YET. Any day now, I'm sure, but I won't post pictures of those :)
Very, very pretty, Jaime. You're making all of us more excited! I can't help but think how much different pregnancy is for you young moms now than it was for us 30 years ago. We were still wearing those ugly tent maternity clothes---to hide everything I guess, because they certainly weren't more comfortable. And remember how scandalous Demi Moore's pregnancy photo on the cover of Vanity Fair in 1991 was? (Of course, she WAS covering up a bit more with her top hand, and she MAYBE needed a third hand for her bare bottom) :) but there's nothing more beautiful than a pregnant belly. Good job, you!
Just my luck, my wife decides to show some skin and take pictures of herself when I'm NOT HOME. I love my wife's belly....
My computer works again:) You are going to be a wonderful mommy and I love these pictures. Good Job, they look like a pro took them:)
We are also very excited to welcome Michael!
~♥
I have one talented sister I've got to say...too bad we don't share blood cuz I sure wish I had some of your genes. I'm excited to hear more and for the big event!
