Brotherhood of the Traveling Mikey

Mikey is one adventurous little dude. We've been carting him all over with us, and have just barely settled back down at home, which is why this blog post covers a span of about a month.

Unfortunately, it's been too long since I've blogged and I forgot to load the pictures in reverse order, so we are going back in time as you scroll down. These pictures are from our trip to California to see Grandma and Grandpa Glenn, April 12th-22nd.

The green hills were just beautiful! These pictures through the car window don't do them justice.

Grandma and Grandpa LOVED hanging out with their baby. He was spoiled for ten days straight. He liked to show off his most recent trick, of talking and cooing for them.

My dad is so silly around kids and babies. It reminded me of the funny thing he used to do when I was a kid. He loved to make faces and weird noises at Mikey to get him to smile.

Mikey also spent some time lounging outside in the grass, since we had very nice 70+ degree weather with just a slight breeze. He would lie on his back or tummy and just look around and listen to the birds and other sounds for several minutes at a time. I could even run inside to do something and come back out and he'd still be perfectly content. I think we have a little nature lover on our hands.

Mikey met his pseudo-cousins in American Canyon. These two girls belong to a friend of my mom's. They were her pretend grandchildren before Mikey came along.

The girls were really sweet and wanted to hold the baby and love him. Mikey seemed to really like them too.

Mikey had so much fun visiting the grandparents in CA! Thanks for letting us come, Mom and Dad! I know it was a sacrifice for you both, but you bore it well. And I have to give a big thank you to Kevin for letting us leave him behind in Grand Junction during our vacation.

This was one of the weekends we were in West Jordan in early April. Mikey was getting ready to take a bath in grandma and grandpa Lewis's bathroom sink. He looked like he was sitting in a hot tub. I just thought it was funny.

Me and Kevin at his parents' house, watching General Conference... Or should I say, me watching General Conference and Kevin "listening" to it.

Our nieces and nephews getting ready to go downstairs for the Easter egg hunt.

I just wanted to put a plug in here to thank Cheryl and Vern for their hospitality. As you can see, they had a LOT of company, and they let us stay at their house two weekends in a row. And Cheryl made some great meals for us, as usual! We had a blast.

While we were in Utah, we also got to visit my good friend Melissa, her husband Matt, and her baby Maddison in Orem. Maddie was born one week after Mikey. We thought they should meet each other, but we got there and they both wanted to sleep.

Maddie was so much smaller at birth than Mikey, but I think they look pretty similar size in this picture. This will be a fun one to show them when they're both older. Thanks, Matt and Melissa, for letting us come see you and your cute baby!
These last pictures are from the picnic we had after Mikey's baby blessing, March 28th. We grilled burgers and had sort of a potluck barbecue with everyone that came for the blessing. Here are Dunc and Liz, who paused from fighting over who got to hold Mikey to smile for a picture.

My dad and Kevin's brother Scott. Scott's family came all the way from Boise for Mikey's blessing. Kevin's parents and his sister's family from West Jordan also drove over. I didn't get pictures of everyone, but we were so grateful to have so many family members come support us!

Scott's wife Cherie and their youngest, Archie. Archie is the closest in age to Mikey on the Lewis side. He was born about 6 months before Mikey. We're excited that they will be buddies and be able to play together at family reunions.

Auntie Neesh and Uncle Freddo also made it out for the occasion. Thanks, guys! It was so fun to see everyone.

We couldn't have asked for better weather for our picnic either. The picnic area was in the Colorado National Monument, so the kids were able to go run around and explore on the rocks while the food was being prepared. The sun was really bright and I was one of the unfortunate ones who didn't remember her sunglasses, but with how warm it was, I couldn't complain. Kevin gave Mikey a beautiful blessing that morning in church. It was a fantastic weekend.
