4 Month Stats - Almost a month late!

Mikey had a whirlwind month. He traveled by car from Grand Junction to Salt Lake and back one weekend, from GJ to SLC again the following weekend, then by train from SLC to Grandma and Grandpa Glenn's house in CA, then by car the following weekend to SLC again. The next day, we drove from SLC to Boise, and two days later, from Boise to Provo, and finally the next day from Provo back to GJ. Did you catch all that? He was quite the trooper, with very good behavior the entire time. When we got home, he finally let us know that he had had enough of being carted around and having his routine disrupted and did not sleep well for a few nights. He was back to his angel baby self by the end of the week, though. We love our little guy and it was fun to see so many family members during our travels. At his four month checkup, Mikey was:

12 pounds, 14 ounces -- 13th percentile.

26 1/2 inches long -- 90th percentile.

He was below the fifth percentile for height-to-weight ratio :) We started him on some rice cereal since then and I'm proud to report he has grown his first fat roll on each thigh, but only if he's extending his legs straight down.

Mikey is such a happy, smiley baby. Everyone that gets to hold him just gushes about how quickly and easily he smiles. Another funny thing about his personality is that he's pretty gun shy. Certain things really make him flinch. Kevin was changing Mikey's diaper at church in a bathroom, and one of the toilets flushed and Mikey jumped and then started to whimper. He is also scared of loud sneezes. He's cried after a few of Kevin's. If you play peek-a-boo with him, he giggles and smiles, but he flinches every time you say "Boo!" regardless of how long you've been playing with him. It's pretty funny. He's still developing his skills of speaking pterodactyl. You would think by listening to him talk that he was raised by dinosaurs. He has gotten really good at rolling from tummy to back, but still not from back to tummy. He loves playing with toys now and grabs at everything and puts it in his mouth. He is fascinated by voices of people coming through speakerphone on my phone. He turns and looks at the phone, probably wondering where the person is that's speaking, and tries to reach for the phone and take it out of my hands.
