8 Month Old Mikey and New Cousin Mya

Here's my sweet little niece Mya on her second day of life. She timed that yawn perfectly for the camera. She's a genius.

Kevin happened to have a dental education course in Provo the very weekend after Mya was born so we were all in town anyway. Our trip to Provo was planned six months in advance and Mya made her entrance at just the right time-- you can't get much better than that! I loved holding her and Mikey seemed fascinated by her as well.

They are gonna be such good friends! I can't wait to see how they both grow and to watch them play together at reunions! I'm so happy for Dunc and Liz and I know they are very proud parents.

You know how I like to throw a bathtub shot in every once in a while. :) Mikey turned 8 months on Oct 20th. He is still a happy-go-lucky, mellow, and easy baby. I do have to watch him a little more closely to make sure he doesn't eat paper, pieces of the carpet, leaves, plastic game pieces and other inedible stuff that he can get into now. He still army crawls and occasionally climbs up on things that are fairly low to the ground. He can crawl over the top of me if I'm lying on the floor. He stands up if I put him on his feet and give him something to hold on to, but he's not pulling himself to a standing position yet. All in due time!

He still loves people, especially little ones like himself. He smiles at strangers all the time and I frequently hear how he's such a "happy baby" from all the passersby. He babbles to himself and is probably full of all sorts of good ideas and information, but I don't understand any of it yet. He's still got the same adorable toothless smile; I don't think his first teeth will come in for at least another month. I really don't mind! He eats lots of solids and feeds himself with his fingers. He likes the biter biscuits, Cheerios, Gerber puffs, yogurt melts, pickle spears, apple cores, bread, pizza crust, potatoes, pureed veggies and fruits, and pretty much anything I put in front of him.

Kevin babysat Mikey recently while I was hanging out with some girlfriends and this is what Mikey was wearing when I saw him again. It fits him perfectly right now. Isn't he just a little stud? He'll be a junior Jazz fan and take after his daddy, I'm sure.
