Happy for Halloween!

For Halloween this year, Mikey was a pilot and Ginny was a witch. Kevin and I joined in the fun and dressed up this year too -- he was a tetherball pole and I was a mummy. I was pretty proud of my no-sew costume idea that I came up with the morning of Halloween. We went to the mall's Trick-or-Treat Street and then to our own ward party with a Trunk-or-Treat afterward. Our neighborhood was pretty dead by the time we got home and we only had our doorbell ring three times between 8 and 9 PM.

Mikey LOVED Halloween. He got so excited. He would yell to passersby, "Happy for Halloween!" and when he trick-or-treated, he was very good about saying "Trick-or-Treat" and "Thank you" to everyone. Ginny didn't really know what was going on, but she looked really cute anyway. She was pretty tired throughout our ward party, and completely zonked out when we got home to put her to bed.

It was a fun one, and now Mikey is getting excited for Christmas. I love the holidays even more now that I have little kids to get excited with me!

In other news, I had a girls' retreat with four friends of mine at that same condo that Duncan and Liz stayed in with us. That was this past Friday night and Saturday. One of my friends showed us how to roll sushi and she made enough for all of us for dinner. We had a fish called escolar in some of the rolls, as well as shrimp tempura rolls and California rolls. That dinner was TO DIE FOR. So delicious! We had blueberry cheesecake for dessert, which I made. Another friend made some chocolate cookies with pomegranate seeds in them. It might sound different, but they were amazingly tasty too. We had a blast just talking the night away. It's definitely the latest I've stayed up since I was working as a midwife! On Saturday we had an amazing breakfast of German pancakes and fresh fruit and then we went hiking. It was such a fun weekend, and I was so glad to get away from the house and have some time to myself with good friends. My hubby watched the kids and I have to admit I didn't really miss them. But when I got home I got lots of hugs and kisses and remembered how lucky I am to have the family that I do. I have great friends and family, a loving Father in Heaven and Savior, and more blessings than I can count. So, I'm happy and that's my update. :)
