3 1/2 Months

I set Mikey down on my bed while I went to shower. When I came back, he was asleep like this. He wasn't even close to the edge before I left him! I've learned my lesson and don't let him sleep on anything elevated anymore (unless it has rails). So, he's not crawling or rolling over yet, but he still manages to scoot and move somehow
.
Kevin and I took Mikey on his first hike up Mt. Garfield (small mountain in Grand Junction). It's a two mile hike one way with a 2000 ft elevation gain. Needless to say, it's STEEP. We started around 9:30 AM, but the forecast today is a high temp in the upper 90s. We only got just past a half mile up when I decided I was ready to turn around. Man, was it HOT... and HARD climbing up that steep slope. No switchbacks here, my friends, just straight up the mountainside like a stair-climber. Anyway, Mikey was in long sleeves, pants, and a hat because I didn't want him to get sunburned, so he was pretty dang hot. To help him cool off, we let him ride almost naked back home in the carseat. We just loved how cute he was when he fell asleep naked in the carseat, so we took a picture.

And finally, I took Mikey to the pool at our gym for the first time. His swim outfit is too big for him right now, so I had to safety-pin the waistband of his shorts, but he was so cute in the outfit! We got his swim outfit from Cindy Turner and Nicole Fuller at my baby shower in American Canyon. Funny how I remember which clothes came from whom, huh?

Here's the report on Mikey's first swimming adventure: he did really well, but didn't look like he was enjoying himself very much of the time. I think the water might have been a few degrees too cold for such a small baby, although it is a well-heated pool and it is indoors. He did officially survive one dunk under water. He didn't cry after going under, but he was blinking his eyes a lot when he came up and shaking his head back and forth like he wanted the water off his face. He never cried the whole 15-20 mins we were swimming, but he did have an expression on his face like, "What the heck is going on? I'm not sure if I'm liking this." I would hold him on his back on the surface of the water and do back floats with him and he was a little scared, especially when the water would go over his ears. He made a sour face whenever that happened. I think we'll let him get a little older before he swims again, and possibly try a little kiddie pool outside, after letting the water warm up in the sun for a while. We'll see. I think he really likes being in the water, but moreso when he's naked and the water's a bit warmer. He LOVES his baths, so I might need to let him swim in the bathtub for a while until he's older and can try the pool again.

So glad you learned your lesson without anyone getting hurt! He might have ended up with a brain like mine if he had fallen off and that would be scarey. Love those pictures.

So cute! It's fun to see what they do in the pool. I'm sure he'll love it more and more each time.

That picture of Mikey hanging off the bed is a little insane! We went to Flaming Gorge when Drew was abut 3 months old. We have pictures of him in his carseat wearing only his diaper because it was also so hot. That one of Mikey looks very similar - little bald heads and all. Very Cute.

Yikes he's growing so fast! He's a smart one, going just far enough over the edge to give you a hard time :)
